Mama HID Awolowo dies at 99

Chief (Mrs) Hannah Idowu Dideolu Awolowo, the matriarch of the Awolowo family and wife of late Obafemi Awolowo has died. She passed on in her sleep today September 19th at her Ikenne, Ogun state home at age 99, just two months before turning 100. She was born on November 25, 1915.  May her soul rest in peace, Amen.

Okada rider violently rapes 14 year old girl in Lagos

An okada rider raped a 14 year old teenager who was returning home from visiting her aunt's shop.
According to a report by Punch, the teenager, currently an apprentice at her aunty’s cake shop was a virgin, until she lost it violently to the okada rider. (pictured rigft after he was caught and beaten)

The teenager who was visibly and emotionally in pain said she'd never forgive her rapist, identified as Sharafa Wasiu, for violating her, she also wished him death, “because of what he did to me. I feel sad anytime I remember that day.”

African Union suspends Burkina Faso from organization

The African Union has suspended Burkina Faso over Thursday's military coup. The AU said sanctions would be imposed if members of the presidential guard, who staged the coup do not release members of the interim government which includes the interim president, Michel Kafondo. 

The presidents of Benin and Senegal are in the city for talks with the coup leader. Meanwhile Pres. Buhari has condemned the coup in Burkina Faso. Below is a press statement from the presidency..

Chairman of the Code of Conduct Tribunal, Danladi Umar has issued a Bench warrant for the arrest of Senate President Bukola Saraki. The IGP and other security agencies have been ordered to produce him by Monday!

Police arrest Indian man in Lagos over visa scam

A Dubai-based Indian man, Mohammed Shazul, has been arrested by the Nigerian police for procuring a Dubai visa using the name of his former business partner,  Ayodotun Babalola. Ayodotun (pictured above) had petitioned the Nigerian police after he discovered that his former business partner who he fell out with after he demanded for 49% share of the company which they ran together, had used his name to obtain a Dubai visa, thereby preventing him to apply for a visa.

The Akwa Ibom state police command have arrested 66 year old father of two, Pa Sunday Etukudoh pictured above, an indigine of Nnung Ikot Abianga in Oruk Anam Local Government Area of Akwa Ibom State for raping and impregnating the 13 year old daughter of his cousin, Miss Ofonime Saturday Okon.

According to Daily Independent,  Ofonime, a JSS1 student of Southern Annang Comprehensive Secondary School, Ikot Okono, Oruk Anam LGA who moved into Etukodoh's house as a maid, was subjected to repeated rape and molestation after Pa Etukudoh used a knife to threaten her the first time.

Tom Cruise - Plane crash kills two during movie shoot

According to a report by TMZ, two crew members from Tom Cruise's new movie "Mena" were killed on set last Friday after a plane went down in Colombia.
Reports say the small twin-engine plane went down with 1 American pilot, a Colombian pilot and a third American passenger on board. It has been used during production to transport crew members. Tom was not on board. He had wrapped filming earlier in the day. There are reports the plane went down in bad weather near Medellin.
The movie is about a pilot who worked for drug lord Pablo Escobar.

The victims are American pilot Alan Purwin and Colombian pilot Carlos Berl. A third passenger, American Jimmy Garind was rushed to the hospital with serious injuries.

An unidentified Nigerian Muslim man arriving in Saudi Arabia for the annual Haj (pilgrimage) next week got the shock of his life when he was told by immigration service that there was a big scissors inside his belly.

According to Saudi daily 'Al Wata'n, the scissors was discovered when the Nigerian pilgrim walked  through the metal detecting machine at the airport in the Western Red Sea port of Jeddah.

Aircraft conveying Nigerian pilgrims develops engine failure after 3 failed attempts to take off

545 Muslim pilgrims from Kebbi state were left in utter shock in the early hours of today after a Boeing 747 model Aircraft with the registration number N5-MBB belonging to Max Air which was supposed to convey them to Saudi Arabia developed technical problems after three attempts to take off from Sir Ahmadu Bello Sardauna International Airport in Birnin Kebbi. One of the pilgrims who spoke to Dailytrust said the incident happened at exactly 1.30am today

The Kenyan maid pictured above was caught on CCTV camera cooking for her boss with the urine she had stored in some bottles. When arrested and interrogated, she said she decided to cook with her urine to punish her boss for maltreating her.

Wanted female alleged thieves arrested in Akwa Ibom (photos)

Two women alleged to be notorious robbers alleged to specialize in entering people's shops, boutiques, restaurants, etc pretending to buy something but end up robbing them in Uyo, have been arrested by the police. The suspects, Grace Ekpo and Mfon Daniel from Itiam Ikot Ebia, Uyo LGA, were arrested last Thursday after they stole from a boutique and were making their escape in a Keke. The owner of the store raised the alarm and passersby pursued the women and caught them.

In a new recording released over the weekend, Al Qaeda leader Ayman al-Zawahri called on young Muslim men in the United States and other Western countries to carry out lone wolf attacks

Buhari applauds armed forces resolve to speedily end insurgency, warns that Human rights violation will be punished
