Natural Home Remedy Treatments For Oily Skin

If you are fighting a constant battle against oily skin, you can probably thank your genes. Shiny oily skin is often passed down through the generations of families. Unfortunately, you can’t change your genes but you can still reduce the oiliness of your skin. There are plenty of home remedies that you can use to help combat oily skin. The following home remedy treatments all use common household ingredients and are quite simple to create. Vinegar. Using white or apple cider vinegar is a great natural way to exfoliate the skin. Just before bedtime, apply the vinegar to your skin using a clean cotton ball or pad. Let it sit for five to ten minutes and rinse well with cool water. If you have sensitive skin, you should dilute the vinegar with two parts water. This treatment can be very effective for controlling oily skin and helpful with reducing acne as well. However, it may take two to three weeks before seeing significant results. For a cooling facial, chill the vinegar or freeze it into ice cubes. Egg yolk. The egg, one of the simplest and most common food items found in the home, can serve as a fast fix for removing an oily shine from the face. An egg yolk mask works perfectly because it dries out the skin just enough to get rid of that dreaded oily face sheen. Use a clean cotton ball to apply the egg yolk to the oily areas. Leave on for about 15 minutes and rinse well with cool water. Aloe Vera. In addition to its many healing powers, aloe vera, sometimes referred to as the miracle plant, works fabulously to clear up oily skin. If you own an aloe vera plant, slice open a leaf and apply the gel to the face up to three times a day. You can also purchase aloe vera gel at most department stores. Let the gel dry. There is no need to rinse. After a hot bath or on a hot summer day, store some aloe vera gel in the refrigerator for a cool refreshing feeling. Lemons. The clean refreshing scent of lemon is just the right thing to pick you up in the morning. Not only do you get the benefits of smelling that wonderful lemony fresh scent, using lemons as a skin treatment is a great way to revitalize, rejuvenate, and rid skin of excess oil. Mix 1 tablespoon of lemon juice and 1 tablespoon of water. Apply the mixture to the face with a clean cotton ball and let dry. For best results, rinse first with warm water then rinse again with cool. Limes. Lime juice can be used in the same manner as the lemon juice suggested above. You can also try mixing 1 teaspoon of lime juice and 1 teaspoon of cucumber juice for an ultra refreshing and oil reducing skin cleanser. Leave the mixture on your face only for a few minutes and rinse well with cool water. Salt. This gift from the sea is nature’s best oil reducer. Place slightly warm water into a small spray bottle and add 1 teaspoon salt. Shake well. Close your eyes and imagine being at a beautiful seashore. Keep your eyes shut and give your spray bottle a squeeze. Blot dry. Spritz your face only once per day with the seaside salt mixture to prevent over drying of the skin. Almonds and honey. Combining almond meal (ground almonds) and honey works fabulously as a gentle facial scrub. It is excellent for removing oils and dead skin cells. Mix a small amount of ground almonds with honey to make a paste. Using a hot or warm washcloth, gently rub the almond honey paste in circular motions onto the face. Avoid scrubbing. Use a minimal amount of pressure when applying the scrub to avoid irritating the skin. Rinse with cool water. Remember that all oily skin is not the same. Certain treatments may work better than others or vice versa depending on the skin type it is applied to. Try them all until you find the treatment that works best for you.
