A drunken man has been arrested after allegedly harassing police with THIRTY 999 calls about his s*x life.
The man is believed to have badgered phone operatives with talk of
conquests, exploits and other innuendo before police stepped in.
Police say that he was given stern warnings to cease and when he refused he was arrested when officers traced the calls to an address in Edgbaston in Birmingham.
“We do get inappropriate drunken calls from members of the public
but, after stern reminders from a police officer, they tend to quickly
stop,” said Force Contact Centre Inspector Ian Gorman.
“However, [the] phone pest ignored our warnings and his calls
descended into abuse and inappropriate comments directed at our call
handlers.
“Misuse of the 999 system deflects police resources and time away
from people in genuine need of assistance or those who are reporting
serious crimes.”
