Mikel Obi to surpass Kanu Nwankwo as Nigeria's most decorated football player if he wins Olympics gold

Chelsea midfielder John Mikel Obi will surpass Kanu Nwankwo as Nigeria's most decorated football player if he wins Olympic gold this summer with the Olympic squad at Rio, Brazil.

Kanu Nwankwo is Nigeria's most decorated player in history as he won English and Dutch league titles, FA Cups , the champions League and Olympic gold medals with Ajax, Inter Milan, Arsenal and Nigeria but  didn't win the Nations Cup trophy with Nigeria.

Mikel on the other hand has won UEFA champions league, UEFA Europa league, FA Cup, Community shield, premier League trophy, Nations cup but hasn't won Olympic gold with Nigeria.

Many football analysts and sports enthusiasts believe Mikel will edge out Kanu Nwankwo if he finally gets his hands on Olympic Gold this summer although Kanu has a greater number of team trophies/accolades.
