Village heads suspended for diverting IDPs food in Yobe

Two Village Heads and one Sarkin Fulani have been suspended by the Emirate council in Yobe state over the diversion of food meant for Internally displaced people in Buni-Yadi in the state. Their suspension letter was sent to them on July 22nd after the emirate council had done their investigation and found them guilty.

According to the Nation, the two suspended village heads are Lawan Alhaji Hassan of Hausari village and Lawan Ngawari of Ngomari village. Also suspended is the Sarkin Fulani of Gujba Alhaji Haro. The Emirate accused the village heads of nonchalant attitude, indiscipline and breach of trust in the handling of food materials meant for the IDPs in Buni Yadi. The letter reads in part:
“I am directed to write and serve you with a letter of suspension. This followed your nonchalant attitude and act of indiscipline involving breach of the trust and confidence reposed in you, by diverting food items donated by Government for distribution to internally displaced persons (IDPs) in Buni Yadi. The Emirate Council has expressed dismay over your misconduct and has future directed me to inform you that you have been suspended from your post. In view of the above, you are therefore directed to keep away from the Emirate activities for the period of one month, pending the outcome of the Emirate Council meeting and subsequent resolution please,”.
