The Area Police Station in Osara, Adavi Local Government Area of Kogi State, was yesterday bombed by gunmen numbering 20, killing three police officers and one civilian.
Some of the gunmen were said to have shot sporadically into air at the Police Station’s gate, scaring away passersby, villagers and students of the state polytechnic, Osara campus which is adjacent the police station.
The villager who died in the attack was said to be visiting a friend who lives near the police station. He was hit by a stray bullet while running from the gunmen.
Confirming the incident, state Police Public Relations Officer, Mr. Romanus Nwaneri, said investigation was ongoing on the motive of the attack, stressing that the gunmen were unable to get any weapon from their armory.
