Expect More Crisis In PDP, Nyako Warns.
Governor Murtala Nyako has declared
yesterday in Yola that unless injustice
perpetrated in the ruling People’s
Democratic Party (PDP) is urgently tackled,
the party will continue to wallow in
unimaginable crisis capable of denying it
the chances of winning in future elections.
Nyako, one of the governors that recently
staged a walk out at the mini convention in
Abuja, made the remark at Government
House, Yola when he received a delegation
of the new PDP stalwarts from Taraba
State led by the former State Chairman of
the party, Dr. Abdulmumini Vaki who were
on solidarity visit.
He maintained that a situation whereby
internal democracy is subverted with
impunity at the highest party level, chaos
would be the only order as is being
witnessed in PDP now.
The governor observed that the PDP
faithful have been subjected to a barrage
of injustice since the coming of the Tukur
led national leadership which led to the
asphyxiation of internal democracy in
Adamawa, Taraba and many other states.
Nyako observed that Taraba and Adamawa
states have suffered so much injustice in
the hands of Tukur with the party
executives unilaterally dissolved and
replaced with Tukur’s stooges.
He said the dissolution of the Adamawa
State chapter of the party had generated
protests from all quarters while failed the
national chairman to see reason even
against the wise counsel of governors and
former President Olusegun Obasanjo.
“Even though the dissolution of the exco
was rescinded by 10 out of 12 members of
the National Working Committee of the
party, the national chairman refused to be
pacified even after being prevailed upon to
do so by relevant stakeholders including
Obasanjo and governors of the party.
“In order to ensure that his dictatorial
proclivities reign supreme in the party,
Tukur stood against the decision of the
NWC and pleadings of important
stakeholders who were disturbed by the
scale and level of impunity being
entrenched in the party.”
He said if not for the new wave of
recklessness that is being promoted in the
party, the dissolution of Adamawa State
SWC of the party would have been
rescinded as it was never ratified by the
National Executive Committee (NEC) of the
party.
He envisaged that the clash in the party
would be between positive and negative
forces that have been on perpetual
struggle. “Both the two actors, that is
myself and Tukur are all Muslims. This
altercation neither has religious nor ethnic
coloration. The crisis is between justice and
injustice and by the grace of Allah, justice
will prevail at the end of the day.”
