
Adesanmoye Kehinde, a senior official of the Nigerian Union of Road
 Transport Workers (NURTW) Ikotun Lagos branch, has been 
arrested and dragged before the Ejigbo Magistrate Court in Lagos 
for allegedly setting his lover, Janet, 31, ablaze after she called off 
their relationship.
Kehinde, 43, who is married with three children, had 
been dating Delta state born Janet for a while and was planning marry 
her. Janet however decided to call the affair off because she felt 
Kehinde was too troublesome. Continue...
According to Janet who testified in court today, Kehinde had threatened 
to deal with her but she didn't take his threats seriously. He however 
carried out his threat by setting her ablaze at Ikotun 
Roundabout while she was on her way to a friend's house. She 
said unknown to her, Kehinde had trailed her as she left her house 
on Olaoluwa Street in Abaranje, Ikotun, poured petrol on her and then 
set her ablaze. She suffered major burns and injuries and is still in a 
critical condition. 
Kehinde was later arrested and charged to 
court on a two-count charge under Sections 243 and 244 of the Criminal 
Code Laws of Lagos State of Nigeria 2011. When the charge was read to 
him today in court, he pleaded not guilty. He was however granted bail 
by the court but could not meet up with the bail conditions. The case 
was adjourned to May 15 2015.
